A selection of mixed media paintings (charcoal and acrylic) by Barry Yusufu, a self-taught visual artist from Nasarawa state, Nigeria. Love the beautiful subtle tones in the faces combined with the large areas of flat colour. In addition to charcoal and paint he also utilizes coffee and papier mache in his work.
He describes his art as Kolo art, meaning “madness in a sane way” and is the leader of an art movement called “The Kolony”, a brotherhood of young contemporary Nigerian artists.
