Artist Spotlight: Christopher Hartmann

A selection of paintings depicting ambiguous interpersonal relationships by London-based artist Christopher Hartmann. Set in a non-place where a seemingly tender touch speaks more of distance and rejection than intimacy, Hartmann’s work plays with themes of emotional attachment/detachment. While drawing inspiration from romantic motifs, subjects are often depicted turning inward as they struggle to share their vulnerability with an ‘other’ that is not accessible.
