A selection of images by Austin, Texas-based photographer Beth Garrabrant. Although born in Connecticut, Garrabrant spent her formative years on the North Shore of Illinois—an experience which she credits as a central influence on her current practice. Utilizing a combination of staged narrative and documentary approaches, her work—which includes both photography and video—explores themes of girlhood and community, drawing on her midwestern suburban upbringing for inspiration.

Select publications and clients include Teen Vogue, iD, a24, and Netflix. Her portrait series, “I am Not Okay with This” was a commissioned project for the coming-of-age Netflix television series of the same title.
