Photographer Spotlight: Sergiy Barchuk

A selection of images by Ukraine-born photographer Sergiy Barchuk. Currently based in New York, Barchuk found his way to photography after graduating with a degree in sociology. His minimalist sill life images play with shape and color, capturing what Barchuk describes as “the transcendent moments that happen in the mundane.” He is drawn to still life photography because of its meditative nature, likening his process to that of making a painting or drawing— “it’s a lot slower and requires careful observation, which I quite enjoy.”
