Artist Spotlight: Sander van Noort

A selection of paintings by artist Sander van Noort from The Netherlands. Taking a childlike approach filled with variety and curiosity, van Noort is drawn to the exploratory process of creating something without limitations. As he states:

“Within my practice, there must be room to do all kinds of things. I work similar to how a child plays, acting from a variety of fantasies. This means that I have developed a great diversity within my work. For me, this is one of the main reasons I am an artist. We live in a world where everything has to be logical, useful, and reasonable, and for some of us, including me, this can be narrowing. Sometimes it’s good to do something without knowing where it’s for or which way it’s going on beforehand. Nevertheless while working and philosophizing what it is that I’m doing; the subject, next steps and other works arise through links that I make during a process.”
