A selection of images from “The Last Whispers of the Light” by Seattle, WA-based freelance portrait and documentary photographer Raphael Gaultier. In addition to his photography work, Gaultier is also the co-founder and director of Human Condition, a Seattle-based arts and culture magazine dedicated to empowering young artists through workshops, events, and storytelling, as well as the co-founder of the COVID response platform, In The Neighborhood.
“The Last Whispers of the Light,” is an exploration of home—how it shapes us and how we shape it. Growing up with an older brother, Lucas, who was born with down syndrome and epilepsy and required constant care from his parents and siblings, Gaultier came to appreciate what he describes as “the quiet intimacy that comes from a special kind of familial love.” He continues, explaining: “His presence in my family has shaped the way we listen and care for one another. This ongoing series is an ode to those quiet moments where home was sacred.”
Raphael Gaultier is one of 60+ photographers featured in our new photo book, Magic Hour. Check it out in our shop, and see more of his work below!
