Born in Japan, artist Hiroya Kurata (previously featured here) is currently based in New York, where he lives with his wife and two kids. Many of the work shown here will be part of an upcoming show at Over the Influence in Hong Kong. Inspired by daily life during the pandemic, these paintings have served as a visual diary of sorts for Karata. He captures snapshots of time spent with his family in his gestural, whimsical style, offering symbols of hope in the midst of a chaotic and challenging year.
