Artist Spotlight: Shohei Takasaki

A selection of recent work by Sydney, Australia-based Japanese artist Shohei Takasaki. Inspired by what he describes as “impossibleness” or “inbetweenness,” Takasaki’s wild and colorful paintings pull together disparate elements in unexpected and unusual ways, offering the viewer plenty of room for open-ended interpretations. Though he has honed a sharp awareness of art history and contemporary trends, his work refuses to be categorized, standing on its own as something entirely new.
