A selection of images from “Business Casual,” by New York City-based artist Pablo Barba. Inspired by historical genre painting, including “merry company” scenes, along with advertising and cartoons, Barba depicts small groups of people in familiar situations drawn from daily life, including water cooler chats, coffee breaks, and an office party. While the scenes are rooted in historical imagery, they are charged with the energy of the present.
