On a recent trip to Sicily—his third time there—Berlin-based photographer Maximilian Virgili (previously featured here) professed his love for the region, vowing to keep coming back forever. “After not being able to travel to Italy for almost two years I was absorbing everything even more intensely than usual,” he explains. The sun-drenched images he made during his stay read as a love letter of sorts, offering a glimpse of the landscape through his eyes.
In addition to his strong focus on personal projects, Virgili works as a freelance photographer for national and international clients, and is currently the Director of Photography at ZEITmagazin. His self-published photobook, “Out of Office” (2021), a retrospective of travel impressions over the last few years, can be purchased at the link on his website.
