Artist Spotlight: József Csató

A selection of recent paintings by Hungarian artist József Csató. Trending toward abstraction, each piece features a menagerie of unique figures and shapes, rendered using a variety of different mediums, including dried paint, foils, silicon, ash, graphite, glue, and wax. Csató draws inspiration from motifs borrowed from nature, combining them with “dreamlike figures and other fantastic creatures,” in the creation of beautifully quirky compositions that are simultaneously figurative and abstract.
