Elisa Breyer is a German artist specializing in oil painting and textile works. Viewing her role as an artist as “not only to depict the times in which we live, but also to question and reflect them,” Breyer focuses her practice on depicting moments of interpersonal warmth and closeness. She spotlights scenes from daily life, using the drawn out process of oil painting to elevate them “to a higher threshold.”
“What may appear to other eyes to be a minor fragment, becomes something special for the viewer through the translational artistic process,” she explains. “Even though I paint figuratively, I don’t paint what I see, rather what I feel.”
