A selection of recent work by Leipzig, Germany-based artist Leif Borges. Depicting surrealist dream scenarios, Borges’ narrative paintings tell uncanny stories with no beginnings or endings. He uses contradictory elements, creating paradoxical scenarios with the objects and people in his work. “Sometimes I see my paintings as ‘trailers’ to the ‘movies’ in my mind, created by the ‘cinema’ of the world in which we live,” he explains. “For me, these paintings leave no question unanswered and do not answer them at the same time.”
