New paintings by Montreal-based artist Dan Climan (previously featured here). An exploration into the act of looking, Climan’s latest series charts the differences between ‘looking at’ and ‘looking in,’ as well as the related tension of being apart from something and a part of something:
“[These are] feelings that have been intensified by the isolation of recent years and the need for intimacy that pervades our digitally-driven lives. The paintings address this conflict and face the viewer with both feelings of escape and solace.”
See more images from “The look says it all” below or on display at Galerie Youn until May 23. Dan Climan is also one of the 50 artists featured in our latest art book, Quiet, now available in our shop!
