Photographer Spotlight: Xavier Encinas

Based in Paris, Xavier Encinas wears many hats, as a creative director, photographer, director, and the founder and editor-in-chief of Sixteen Journal, a bi-annual publication dedicated to photography. His personal photography practice is centered around an investigation of the iconography of the American West, and how it relates to his Spanish cultural origins. Encinas has been photographing the American desert landscape and its inhabitants for the past seven years, and is now turning his attention toward the second chapter of the ongoing project, which will focus on Spanish culture.
