Photographer Spotlight: Brooke DiDonato

Austin, Texas-based photographer Brooke DiDonato explores the loss and subsequent redefining of home through the practice of self-portraiture. Straddling the line between mundane and absurd, each photograph deconstructs a personal experience, depicting DiDonato’s understanding of home as a place of both comfort and turbulence. “In contrast to bizarre and often unlikely scenarios, the images remain grounded in familiar domestic settings,” she explains. “The end result is a series of psychological landscapes reflecting on personal identity, relationships, turmoil and the changes that are necessary to move forward.”
