Artist Spotlight: Guimi You

Specializing in oil paintings inspired by her personal experiences and observations, Seoul, Korea-based artist Guimi You aims to capture the mundane moments and landscapes of her daily life. She draws inspiration from the natural world, explaining: “Nature is fluid and constantly evolving, so I don’t believe there is a need to portray them as static and immovable. As a result, this perception of nature has led me to develop a style of painting that may appear dream-like to the viewer.”

After living abroad for 10 years, You recently returned to Korea last year. Many of her previous paintings were based on the California landscape, but now that she has settled back into life in Korea, she’s excited to see how her new surroundings will influence her art practice.
