“GRIEFMEAT” by Photographer Sydney Krantz

A collection of images by Los Angeles-based photographer Sydney Krantz (previously featured here). Formed during the height of the pandemic, the series was born out of grief — “Grief over relationships ending, friends dying, my stable mental health wavering, and the end of the world we once knew.” As a photographer who lives and breathes in bright colours, the images reflect the darkness and desaturation Krantz was experiencing at the time. “GRIEFMEAT” references a German expression for the weight a person gains during a period of overeating due to unhappiness, depression, or grief. Check out more images from the series below or check out her zine, available for purchase here!
