A collection of recent work by Kansas City-based artist Mikey Yates (previously featured here). Taken from his latest show with Taymour Grahne Projects, “Boomerang” is an extended meditation on the places we call home. Yates invokes the reflections and artifacts that haunt those mental and physical spaces, reminding us that the true essence of the term remains even if loved ones move away or grow apart. In this way, the paintings themselves act as an homage to the memories and objects we choose to return to — the things that make us feel at home.
