Los Angeles-based artist David Emanuel Mordechai Torres, better known as RABI, has a new show opening at the new Urban Nation Museum Satellite Gallery, in Neukölln, during Berlin Art Week. “_gen+esc” is a series of short art films featuring contemporary artists discussing their work and their relationship to theme of escapism. The interviewees each wear a green suit which RABI uses as a canvas, collaging an endless stream of pop culture references directly onto their bodies. Artists in the video series include, Lauren YS, Faith XLVII, Drew Merritt, Audrey Kawasaki, and a handful of others.
Curated by Michelle Houston, the “_gen_esc” exhibition will include a mural and a screening of selected episodes, as well as ceramic sculptures and installations which utilize AR technology. The show opens, September 13th, 7pm.
