A lovely series by Los Angeles-based photographer Stephen Ross Goldstein (previously featured here). “The Oak Echoes” is an ongoing project started in the spring of 2022 when Goldstein moved to Los Angeles from Arizona. Acting as a document of a new life chapter, the images reflect Goldstein finding community as well as coming to terms, emotionally and physically, with the diagnosis of an autoimmune disease. The work contains portraits of friends and landscapes all the way from the San Gabriel Mountains to the foggy coast of Southern California, weaving in and out of the narrative of starting over.
