“Enigma” by Artist Théo Viardin

A series of enigmatic figurative paintings by French painter Théo Viardin. Recently on display at PACT Gallery, “Enigma” features colossal human figures beings in mutation and seemingly watching over one another. Viardin’s process involves successive layers of oil, alternating gestural brushstrokes and ethereal glazes, in an effort to capture the essence of the human condition in all its dichotomies and complexity. Set in stripped-down worlds, and in stark colour contrasts, Viardin’s figures are as vulnerable as they are massive.
