Booooooom x TourBox: Elite Plus Giveaway

We’ve got such a cool giveaway for you this week, courtesy of the folks over at TourBox. I spent some time trying out the TourBox Elite Plus creative console and I’ve gotta say, I’m thoroughly impressed with this little device. I’ll share a few of my specific thoughts below, and YES—we have a couple to give away to you!

We’re also excited to have TourBox on board as a sponsor for this year’s Illustration Awards! Each category winner will be going home with one of their very own Elite Plus consoles, along with a whole bunch of other prizes! Learn more about our Illustration Awards here.

The TourBox Elite Plus is the ultimate creative console engineered for digital artists, photographers, video editors, and designers who want seamless control across devices. It has 11 programmable buttons and three multifunction dials, each clickable and customizable, offering over 150 button combinations that allows for integration with tools like Photoshop, Procreate, Lightroom, etc. Allowing for both bluetooth or wired connections, it’s the perfect tool to speed up your workflow. I want to preface this all by saying I’ve never used a creative console before but I’ve used both pen and display tablets and I’m always looking for ways to improve my workflow.

The first thing that I noticed about the TourBox Elite Plus was the weight. It was heavier than I expected (which I liked) and the build quality of the buttons and dials all felt great. It really gripped the desk, which is important for a device like this as you don’t want it sliding around even a little bit. The layout felt like a natural match for my hand and the haptic touch (which you can turn on/off) had just the right amount of feedback. All this is to say, I thought the feel was perfect—very satisfying to click and scroll.

Testing out the TourBox Elite Plus

I tested out making my own presets for Photoshop and Lightroom and found it all really intuitive. As you can see in the image above I had the Elite Plus next to my trackpad and keyboard but I quickly found that I could do many things—including editing whole sets of images in Lightroom—using only the TourBox console.

As someone who spends a lot of time creating on a computer, the best way I’ve found to combat repetitive strain injuries is to switch between different setups—mouse, upright mouse, keyboard, small and large tablets, trackpad, and so on. This console is a welcome change from my routine. After experiencing the bliss of adjusting sliders with a physical knob, I can’t stop using this thing. Next up: testing it out with an iPad.
