Illustrator Spotlight: Deb JJ Lee

A selection of work from illustrator Deb JJ Lee. Born in Seoul, Deb spent the majority of their life on the East Coast of the United States. They graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Design from Carnegie Mellon University in 2018 and worked in Silicon Valley as a UX Designer before pivoting to a career in illustration. Now based in Brooklyn, Deb’s work explores themes of fantasy and classic Japanese animation. Their debut graphic novel, In Limbo, was published by First Second in 2023, followed by The Other Side of Tomorrow, written by Tina Cho, through Harper Alley in 2024.
