Submission Painting

ˈbizēˌbädē

My work is inspired by my attraction to playfulness, pattern, nostalgia and imperfection. I long for the freedom I had exploring as a child; for the wonder in each of my discoveries. In my work, I start with loose or nonexistent plans, which lead to serendipitous compositions.

I gravitate toward bright colors and patterns that work together within the forms of my paintings and sculptures. In studio, I think about the relationships between my pieces; the color and form bouncing off one other to create an environment.

To me, a successful piece is often achieved only after overcoming a number of hurdles. An artist starts, stops, tries, fails, and picks himself back up again along the way. A slight error executing your best laid plans or a missed stroke here and there is natural. Nothing is perfect, and I want to reflect that.
