100 Views of Saigon

I'm Daniel Tingcungco, a Filipino illustrator and art director based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I moved to Saigon in 2019 for work, knowing almost nothing about the city beyond what I'd read online. 100 Views of Saigon started as a way to actually see the place instead of just passing through it, one hundred everyday scenes drawn from life over about 16 months, street corners, coffee stalls, motorbikes after the rain, the small unremarkable moments that end up meaning the most.

It's part of an ongoing project called The 100 Series, illustrated visual diaries of the cities I've lived in or returned to (currently Manila, Saigon, and Tokyo), and it's meant to keep growing for the rest of my life. Saigon has that taught me the most about looking closely at a place until it starts to feel like home.
