According to ISTAT, 174 liters is the minimum amount of water an adult needs daily for essential domestic activities. In Calabria, recurring water shortages linked to drought, ageing infrastructure and climate change make this amount far from guaranteed. Drawing on my family archive, I revisit the practice of collecting water in household containers whenever interruptions are announced. Through photographs, still lifes and images of cut-out containers, I attempt to reconstruct 174 liters, turning this collecting activity into a playful research destined to remain incomplete. The project reflects on memory, absence and the traces left by a daily condition.
