Hash Bash is an event that draws thousands to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor's Diag to celebrate cannabis and marijuana culture. It began in 1972, shortly after the Michigan Supreme Court overturned the state's felony cannabis law. Previously, even possession would send someone to prison for 10 years. Today Cannabis and most psychedelic plants are decriminalized in Washtenaw County and Hash Bash is essentially an open air drug market, activist hangout, and celebration under a marijuana haze.
