Agglomeration

Within the series, Agglomeration, I use tools that are made to blend pixels based on similarities and force them to blend based on differences to create digitally manipulated images that are difficult for the eye to comprehend, as I am interested in the degradation of human vision versus logarithmic computer vision. These images explore themes of personal and environmental loss. I use stacking algorithms counter-intuitively to create densely layered landscape and still life images; I purposefully confuse the patterns computers rely on to create a cohesive image, thus causing the computer to fail in the manner in which it is supposed to see. Through this manipulation, I can unsettle viewers and challenge their perception of both inherent tropes and the indexicality of photography.
