Born in Berlin, I now call Sheffield, UK, my home. I am interested in mental health and our insecurities, how we experience them and where they come from. I have been influenced by the surrealist art movement and engaged a lot with existentialist thinkers. Using watercolours, I create colourful works of art that encourage viewers to reflect upon their own anxieties, fears, and how they are perceived by the outside world and wider society. At a time of increased awareness of mental health, there is a tendency to overlook the political, economic and structural causes of mental ill-health. I hope to make those connections more apparent by incorporating imagery and quotations which highlight this.
