“American Mental Illness” and “Priorities”

This is part of an ongoing collaboration between artist Jin Lim and myself, Laurent Sterk. Each image is meant to speak to a societal issue.
"American Mental Illness" is a statement on gun violence, gun culture, racism and scapegoating in our society. It addresses the backwards nature with which we approach an epidemic in our country and the irony in that we blame "mental illness" when it seems that our current outlook on these issues is itself a mental illness.
"Priorities" is both a statement on our current direction in environmental policy as well as a larger message that, in the end, we are simply animals who have made bad decision after bad decision in line with our selfishness and short sightedness and inevitably will only have the green paper we held in higher regard than our own planet to try and save us.
