My work explores the play between form and non form, force and subtlety and consciousness and intuition. Inspired by mid-century abstraction and Japanese calligraphy I employing gestural marks that evoke energy and emotion. Constantly fascinated by the power of white space and the Zen philosophy of ‘Ma’, which translates as ‘gap’ or ‘pause’ , I search for compositional balance.
