We humans are full of contradictions. We long for closeness and still keep our distance. We want to be ourselves, yet adapt to what is expected of us. I find myself wondering how much we really understand about ourselves, let alone anyone else. This is what keeps me painting. In Burn, Human, In to Out and Sightless Vision, I explore being human: our inner contradictions, vulnerability, the things we show and the things we hold back. I work in acrylic and oil, often through layers and glazes. Each painting begins with my own thoughts, but I don't want those thoughts to decide what you see. Your experience may take the image somewhere I never imagined. And perhaps what feels clear today will become a question tomorrow.
