We are surrounded by eyes. Cameras, feeds, thumbnails, previews. When I immigrated from Korea to the United States, the internet became a way of observing a world I was not yet part of. There is something voyeuristic about this way of looking, though I doubt I am alone in it.
I collect images from across the digital world, where imagery accumulates faster than anyone could consume in a lifetime. I think of this as digital waste: images that briefly hold our attention before being replaced or forgotten.
Through digital collage, I bring these images into new relationships, allowing meanings to emerge alongside their original ones. Painting demands a different kind of attention, giving these fleeting images new value and a physical presence somewhere between screen and surface.
