I usually start with a face, body, gesture or colour and let the image change while I work. My figures often stretch, shift or merge with other forms. I like the point where something soft/playful or slightly kitsch starts to feel strange. Hands, faces, vessels and organic shapes keep appearing in my work. The figures often feel vulnerable or withdrawn and I prefer not to explain them too much or give them one fixed story.
