Camera Stories: David Schermann

My Hong Kong trip was coming up and I wanted to bring a small film camera with me. That's why I bought a Leica C2-Zoom camera for 15€ on a flea market. It’s a point & shoot camera with a 40-90mm, 3.5f lens and a strange feature called “auto zoom”. The manual explains it like this: “This function is (...) for snapshots where a quick selection of the field of view is required. “ In reality it’s just annoying: The Leica automatically zooms in and out (it seems random). Every time you want to snap a photo it can happen. So you have to zoom out again. This whole process takes ages and the zoom motor is very loud. BUT it shoots great photos! Nevertheless it has a special place in my heart. I used it together with a CinesStill 800 shooting night scenes in Hong Kong and believe me, it’s a great combination!
