Caught In the Act: Passion in Rhythm

My paintings express the energy and curiosity that I experience while creating them. I use color and texture to depict movement, energy and human expression, whether painting an abstract landscape, an intimate gesture, an intense musician, or a passionate dancer.

At age 15 I chose to give up my passion for dance to devote my time to my other passion—visual arts. This collection of paintings is focused on depicting the human passion of musicians and dancers. I frequently enjoy live performances and I find myself mesmerized by the musicians’ relationships to their instruments and their facial and body gestures as they make music.

I use acrylic paint as it allows me to be spontaneous and expressive, and to feature vibrant colors and visible brush work. As a former ceramic artist, I am interested in depicting depth and texture.
