Twenty years ago, I spent a year in Chile, falling in love with its people, culture, and way of life. For my thesis, I lived with the Mapuche, explored their land conflict, and learned about their traditions. Chile became part of my story.
Now, at 45, I return as a photographer. In two weeks, I revisit familiar places, meet old friends, and explore a country caught between tradition and change.
From student protests and Indigenous struggles to rural life, migration, climate change, and volcanic activity, I encounter a society full of contradictions. Some things remain familiar; others have changed profoundly.
This photographic journey is more than a portrait of Chile today. It is a personal exploration of memory, identity, and belonging—and a chance to rediscover both the country and the person I was twenty years ago.
