Cloudism is a state of being. It is the present moment.
Created by Hong Kong-born, UK-based artist Tik Ka, Cloudism begins with impermanence: everything is constantly forming, transforming and disappearing. This way of seeing moves from “Everyone is Cloud”, to “Everything is Cloud”, “Everywhere is Cloud”, and finally, “I’m Cloud”.
The cloud within Cloudism is called Mu (無), meaning “nothing” or “absence” in the Eastern sense. Mu is not emptiness, but a state without fixed form. It reflects the impermanence of identity, matter and self.
Cloudism is not simply a visual style, nor confined to painting or sculpture. Any person, object, place or experience can exist within its language. The cloud is not merely an image, but a condition of existence.
