These drawings are part of an ongoing practice in which drawing functions as an autonomous form of visual thinking rather than as preparation for painting. Working with pencils, markers and ink, Grekhova builds fragmented situations in which figures, gestures and spaces remain unstable and only partly legible. The small scale allows images to emerge quickly and retain a degree of awkwardness, immediacy and uncertainty.
