This series is a work in progress of digital illustrations that began with a simple sketch for an Asian portrait, which I was inspired to draw after a long admiration for Chinese Mezzotint printmaking during my college studies. A continuous visual narrative runs through the artwork, combining a mixture of portraiture, nature, and architecture, which are thought-provoking and romantic. Given the size of the portraits in the image, the impact is deliberate, and it is meant to overwhelm, command a space, and dwarf everything else that comes close to it. The series is physiologically charged with feelings of isolation, loneliness , and introversion, mirroring the artist’s by giving them a physical shape and removing the agony involved when keeping feelings hidden.
