“Flora Migrans” – textile sculpture of felted wool

Naíma Almeida is a Brazilian visual artist based in Barcelona. Her practice includes textile sculpture, exploring accumulation, layering, and the relationship between matter, color and space.

Through handmade processes such as needle felting, Almeida investigates transformation, memory and the ways belonging is constructed. Her recent work, *Flora Migrans* (2026), draws from the experience of migration as a process of adaptation and reconfiguration. A suspended plant, its roots exposed and reaching toward new ground, becomes a metaphor for the transitional state between a place of origin and a place yet to be inhabited.
