This series was born out of a season of bitter disappointment. I felt displaced and trapped after a loss and was longing for what was no longer mine. This body of work depicts situations contrary to a natural state of things, often with a sense of disruption or breakthrough, or even what may await on the other side: the vulture dons a crown of elegant flowers erupting from its ugly head; a massive hippo floats along trapped in a weightless bubble, and a manatee and octopus long for another world in which they may never be a part...
