I am Eunicia Marie D. Tan (@tanica_11), an 18 year old illustrator studying at the University of the Philippines Open University. The piece that I am submitting is my most recent work, titled "Gaze". This is the first art piece that I made since I started college a month ago, and I made it to celebrate my decision to become an artist. Creatives are always told to turn away from their passion, to do something else, be someone else, which I have experienced countless times. But I took a leap of faith, and pursued the path I wanted to take, to study what I'm really interested in. Now, after a month in college, I've realized that art truly is my calling. My passion, no, hunger for it, is simply too strong.

I will become an artist, and no matter what the world says, my eyes will never turn away.
