Golden Fissures is a series of eight works inspired by the imagery and spiritual resilience of the classical Chinese poem After Failing the Imperial Examination, I Write on Chrysanthemums. The series translates its themes of endurance and resistance into a contemporary visual language.
The “fissure” serves as a metaphor for adversity, fractured order, and the constraints of fate. Gold and turquoise form the central chromatic vocabulary, suggesting resilience, hope, vitality, and inner clarity. Through recurring motifs of fractured crowns, falling chains, scattered fragments, and recovered light, the works explore vulnerability, uncertainty, release, and renewal. Here, rupture becomes not only a wound, but also an opening through which transformation becomes possible.
