Haiku Reimagined

Hoài Phương (Jacquell) is a watercolor artist who was born in Sai Gon and now living in Bologna, Italy. She was previously featured on Booooooom with her signature watercolor floating on intense dark background, and this Haiku series marks a swift change in her style. Collaborating with Pháp Hoan - a Vietnamese Buddhist monk who is also known as a poet/translator on a illustrated Haiku collection, she produced a series of watercolor illustration, tailor-made to each Haiku poetry - a short form of Japanese poetry consists of 3 lines that is rich in image, evoking the natural and spiritual world. They are made with limited watercolor palette, often Yellow Ochre and Umber, on tea-dyed watercolor paper - that she discovered during the process and it heightens the antique and Zen ambience of the poems it accompanies.
