These paintings speak of my pre-occupation with process and mark-making; defined by certain gestures, repetitive stains and recurring imprints, they form a network of surfaces.
Nominally abstract, guided by a series of intuitive decisions, the internal logic of each work unfolds gradually. The work is spontaneous by nature; through an immediate process of accrual and adjustment marks are repeated and rediscovered. However, despite appearing hap hazard at first, they are very meditative works that have usually been re-worked over hours.
