Submission Photography

Headspin

This project, and forth coming book, is a collection of images from Ghana and Malawi. They were photographed on multiple different trips over the course of several years. Originally these were 2 projects but after a common aesthetic began to emerge, I decided to combine them. In both countries I was working as a cinematographer on NGO projects which all had hectic shooting schedules. Always sprinting from one location to another, shooting sun up to sundown. Working this way left no time for the romanticized way I’d imaged myself photographing. I had to be very proactive in seeking out moments and images, every chance I could. Driving down the road, at lunch etc... These parameters forced me to always be engaged in the moment, connecting me deeper to the experience, and resulting in some very special images.
