Heimwärts

Heimwärts explores migration, displacement, and the persistence of homeland through collaged landscapes assembled from images gathered across Western Europe and North Africa. Seemingly seamless scenes reveal subtle geographic impossibilities, existing between reality and memory. Light, climate, and vegetation evoke sensory traces of a place of origin, while an underlying absence reflects the distance between lived experience and the idealised image of home. Transparent domes bearing Tajik cultural references and fragments of Gharibi (Exile) by Sufi poet Kamol Khujandi introduce layers of cultural memory, connecting distant geographies to a homeland sustained through sensation, longing, and remembrance.
