The women I draw contain pieces of myself: who I am, who I was, or someone I wish I could be. Through them, I explore femininity as something we can reinvent and play with.
Maison Divette began during a sleepless, jet-lagged night as a new mother. I needed an escape, somewhere my imagination could run wild, free from client briefs, expectations, bedtimes and bath times. It grew into a universe of starlets, backstories and souvenirs from an imaginary place.
Borrowing from pinups, cabaret and vintage advertising, I explore sensuality and self-invention, with humor keeping the fantasy from becoming too precious. There’s always room for cats, noodles and bad jokes!
Maison Divette is both my escape and an invitation: a place to dream, laugh and try on a fantasy, even for a moment.
